The Wobble · Copy Me · The Words Went Quiet
Some children go loud when things get hard. Others go quiet, and the quiet is usually mistaken for calm.
This set is for the second kind, and it takes the pressure off talking entirely. The Wobble and Copy Me need no reading at all — one is done with your hands, pressing and shaking and slowing a wobble down; the other is ten things to copy with your face and body, loud at the start and still by the end. Neither can be got wrong. Then The Words Went Quiet is the story underneath it: a child whose words are there and simply will not come out, and nobody in it telling them to speak up or be brave.
The order matters more than it looks. A body that is holding on cannot be talked into settling, but it can copy someone. The words come back afterwards, in their own time, as they generally do when nothing is being demanded of them.
Three paperbacks — two you do together, one to read. For children aged four to eight, and the younger two work well below that.
